Natural disaster relief for children:
Create an adaptable post-trauma therapy program for children to help them cope with the effects of a natural disaster and reconnect with their local environment through recycling
After Hurricane Stan devastated communities around Lake Atitlán in 2005, Pura Vida worked with groups of victims (particularly children) in San Marcos la Laguna and Panabaj - Santiago Atitlán to recuperate their lives and their homes by reconstructing with recycled materials. We helped families living in temporary shelters convert them into permanent homes.
We created solidarity programs for schools...
...and comunitys where the population converted plastic trash into construction material Eco-blocks for the new homes.
